Shaw-cum-Donnington Primary School

Church
We have regular visits to the local church, St Mary's, to celebrate Harvest, Christmas, Easter and for the Year 6 Service. Classes visit the church for other events during the school year.
Collective Worship
At Shaw-cum-Donnington Primary School, our collective worship is 'wholly or mainly of a broad Christian character,' with a focus on the broad tradition of Christian belief.
We carefully plan worship with themes around our Christian values to nurture children's spiritual development, encourage reflection and promote an understanding of the life and teachings of Jesus.
Our worship is lead by the Headteacher, teaching staff and our local Reverends. We strive to make worship inspriring and creative, incorporating storytelling, music, singing, world events, moments of reflection, celebration and prayer.
We believe that school worship should be distinctive and a special time for adults and children within the school day.
At Shaw-cum-Donnington Primary School, we are an inclusive church school grounded in the Christian faith. People of all faiths or no faiths are welcome.
Our Christian Vision
Together, we will inspire hearts, shape character, and ignite a lifelong love of learning — so that every child leaves us ready to shine in the world, confident in themselves.
'... Jesus said 'I am the light of the world.' John 8:12
Our School Values
Our Christian values provide the grounding on which we base our lives at school. Our values were identified with our school community.
Each value provides the focus for each term through teaching within Collective Worship and our curriculum.
Our Reverends visits our children regularly, leading whole school, key stage or class worship. They support our Year 6 worship leaders.

Spirituality
We are proud to be an inclusive church school, where children are encouraged to 'shine brightly' so they can learn, grow and love. We nurture and celebrate each person within our school family.
At Shaw-cum-Donnington Primary School, we believe that is is improtant to provide children with a range of opportunities to help them develop spiritually. By creating meaningful moments, we aim to transform thoughts, actions and heighten awareness. Through providing an engaging and interesting curriculum, we encourage children to explore, ask questions, reflect and grow as individuals.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
For ever and ever.
Amen
